Meet the Ohio Team Behind Mainspring Garage Door Co. of Ohio

Our Ohio crew is the reason a 42-year-old company still answers the phone with a live person and still shows up when we say we will. Every technician, installer, and coordinator here works under the same K.E.Y.S. code Dale Fincher established: Krafted right, Every time, Your home first, Standing behind it. We’re not a call center with contractors. We’re a team that clocks in together, trains together, and fixes garage doors across Ohio every day.

Our People

Dale Fincher, Owner

I started Mainspring Garage Door Co. in 1984, named for the spring that carries a door’s entire weight - the part most people never think about until it snaps. I’m still on job sites when I’m needed, still answer the phone some nights, and still write the 90-Day Done Right Promise on every invoice myself. I don’t believe in paperwork disputes. If we didn’t do it right, we come back. No arguing. I hire people who can explain what’s broken without talking down to anyone, then stop talking. That’s the standard.

Marcus T., Lead Technician

Marcus has been with us fourteen years and can diagnose a torsion spring failure by the sound a door makes when it hits the halfway point. He’s factory-certified on LiftMaster and Genie openers, but his real specialty is the oddball jobs: custom wood doors on century homes in German Village, low-headroom installs in basement garages, the repairs other companies walk away from. He keeps a notebook of part numbers for discontinued Wayne Dalton models most suppliers stopped carrying in 2012. Off the clock, he restores vintage motorcycles and applies the same patience to both. Customers ask for him by name.

Elena R., Senior Installer

Elena joined us after eight years in commercial construction, and she treats every residential install like she’s working on her own house. She’s our go-to for Clopay and Amarr full-replacement jobs, especially the insulated steel models Ohio winters demand. She measures twice, explains the options once, and doesn’t upsell what you don’t need. Her crew finishes most installs in four to six hours, and she’s the reason our trucks carry full weatherstripping kits - she got tired of callbacks for drafts she could have prevented the first day. She has a rescue pit bull named Biscuit and occasionally brings him to the shop on Saturdays.

James K., Service Coordinator

James is the live voice answering at 2 a.m. when your spring snaps and your car is trapped in the garage. He’s been with us six years, knows every technician’s current location, and can tell you honestly whether we’ll make it tonight or first thing in the morning - no false promises. He schedules around school pickup times, shift changes, and the reality that most Ohio garage door emergencies don’t happen during business hours. He keeps a map of ongoing road construction taped to his desk so he doesn’t send a truck into a closed intersection. He grew up in Mansfield and still lives there, which helps him estimate drive times to rural calls better than any GPS.

Devon P., Apprentice Technician

Devon started with us last spring after completing a mechanical trades program at Columbus State. He’s learning cable and roller replacement under Marcus, and he’s already the fastest on our team at programming new Chamberlain and Craftsman opener remotes - something about his patience with the sequence timing. He asks questions most people are afraid to ask, which makes him better faster. He carries a laminated copy of the K.E.Y.S. code in his toolbox and checks off each point before he calls a job complete. He lives with his grandmother in Westerville and fixes her neighbors’ doors on weekends for practice.

One Standard, Every Job

Whether Marcus is diagnosing a failed spring in Dayton or Elena is hanging a new door in Cincinnati, the same rules apply. Upfront pricing stated before work begins. Background-checked, uniformed technicians who treat your garage like your home, not a job site. Trucks stocked so most repairs finish in one visit. And the 90-Day Done Right Promise on every invoice, in writing, with Dale’s name behind it.

We don’t have different crews for different neighborhoods. The same people who train together in our shop drive to your house. That’s how we’ve operated since 2016, and that’s not changing.
